Abstract
The Health and Independence Report is published annually and looks at the public funds that are allocated to health and disability support services, the workforce underpinning the sector, the services that are delivered, and how those services are contributing to the health and independence of New Zealanders. Section One of the report provides an overview of the health status of New Zealanders, including cancer, cardiovascular diseases, oral health and non-communicable diseases and risk factors such as obesity and smoking prevalence. Section Two of the report includes indicators of how the health and disability system is performing. It includes the Government’s health targets, indicators of the quality of services and indicators of the efficiency and productivity of the system.
