Abstract
This article reviews the literature on ward-based drug administration, types and causes of medication errors, and how information systems generally and Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) specifically is being used to mitigate the causes. It also "... describes the design and evaluation of a prototype smart drug tray, that uses RFID technology to support nurses in identifying patients and medications".
