Access to Elective Services
The government wants the public health system to deliver better, sooner, more convenient healthcare for all New Zealanders.
There is a need to increase the rate of growth of elective surgery to increase access and achieve genuine reductions in waiting times for patients. The health target Improved Access to Elective Surgery states that the volume of elective surgery will be increased by at least 4000 discharges per year.
