The report, which is the second of a three part series on the health of children and young people in the Southern DHB reviews some of the determinants shaping children and young people’s health and wellbeing. It also aims to assist District Health Board staff to consider the roles other agencies play in influencing child and youth health outcomes. Two topics were selected for indepth review: Services and interventions for women experiencing multiple adversities in pregnancy, and mental health issues in children. Other topics covered include hospital admissions data, immunisation coverage, and exposure to smoking and secondhand smoke.
