Oceania Tobacco Control Conference (Perth) on 20–22 October 2015

Cancer Council Western Australia will host the Oceania Tobacco Control Conference in Perth. 

In addition to the primary theme of achievements and aspirations within the tobacco control community, the conference will focus on the following sub themes:

  • People - (including, but not limited to) those with mental health issues, pregnant women, Indigenous peoples, youth, prisoners and homeless people.
  • Policy - (including, but not limited to) tobacco control advocacy, legislation, regulation, plain packaging, smoke-free areas, second-hand smoke and smoke-drift.
  • Practice - (including, but not limited to) brief intervention, public education/resources, normalisation/denormalisation, Quitlines, cessation methods, GP and health professional practices.
  • Products - (including, but not limited to) plain packaging, graphic warnings, brand variants, nicotine addiction, NRT products, harms from tobacco/nicotine, multiple drug use and chop-chop.
  • Producer - (including, but not limited to) industry promotion and public relations.
  • Price - (including, but not limited to) tobacco taxes and excise, price discounting and duty free cigarettes.
  • Promotion - (including, but not limited to) social marketing, mass media, social media and tobacco retailers.
