The authors use New Zealand cancer registration and psychiatric hospitalisation data to explore the reasons for worse cancer survival in people with experience of mental illness. They conclude from their analysis that "the high burden of physical disease and delayed cancer diagnosis in those with psychotic disorders contribute to worse cancer survival in NZ psychiatric service users".
